Rusagro plans to ship pork to China in March

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Rusagro Group of Companies , has received the right to export pork to China, and is planning to start shipments in March.

"We plan to begin shipments to China in March. We already have agreements with potential clients, and a plan for interaction and contractual terms have been worked out," Tatyana Smirnova, director of the marketing and sales department for the group's meat business, told Interfax.

At the recent Prodexpo-2024 exhibition, the company deliberately concentrated its efforts on presenting its product portfolio to Chinese entrepreneurs and significantly expanded its potential pool of future partners, "who indicated high interest in significant volumes of purchases of our products," she said.

The company's registration in CIFER and permission to export to China is a result of Rusagro's key focus on product quality and strict compliance with all biosafety measures and veterinary standards," Smirnova said.

As reported, China's General Administration of Customs has registered three Russian pork production enterprises and will allow the export of pig products starting February 28, 2024. Products manufactured after the registration date are permitted for shipment.

The Russian enterprises' applications were approved by China via the country's CIFER registration system.

In addition to Rusagro's Tambovsky Bacon facility, Miratorg and the Velikoluksky Meat Processing Plant received permission as well.

Rusagro is one of Russia's leading agricultural holdings. It has a 15% share of sugar production (third place), including a 48% share of lump sugar production (first place). The company has a 6% share in commercial pork production (fourth place), 13% in sunflower oil (first place), and 52% in margarine (first place).

The company's assets are located in 11 Russian regions: Belgorod, Tambov, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol, Sverdlovsk, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Orenburg regions and Primorsky Territory. The company's land bank covers 681,000 hectares.

The company's revenue (before intersegment eliminations) reached 310.2 billion rubles in 2023, which is 20% more than in 2022.
