Rosatom discussing with number of companies, particularly Lukoil, construction of small NPPs to supply energy to projects - CEO

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Rosatom is discussing the construction of new small nuclear power plants with a number of companies, CEO Alexei Likhachev said in the State Duma.

Likhachev mentioned talks with Lukoil and Russian Platinum in addition to the previously mentioned projects under discussion with Gazprom Neft and Norilsk Nickel .

"Discussions are underway with a large number of our commercial partners, including Gazprom Neft, Nornickel, Lukoil, and Russian Platinum, on establishing both land-based and small nuclear power plants. Yes, we have not yet reached the contract stage, but there is much interest," Likhachev said.

Rosatom previously noted the rising demand for low-capacity NPPs, as observed worldwide. The presence of reference projects within the country allows Rosatom to hold active discussions with foreign customers, with projects in Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar specifically under consideration.
