Russia ramps up buckwheat exports to China 7.4-fold to 145,000 tonnes in 2023 - Agroexport

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russia ramped up exports of buckwheat to China 7.4-fold year-on-year to 145,000 tonnes in 2023 from 19,700 tonnes in 2022, with the value surging 5.4-fold year-on-year to $62 million from $11.5 million, respectively, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said, citing data from the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

"Buckwheat is a staple ingredient in many culinary dishes in China, especially in the northern provinces. It is most commonly found in the form of buckwheat noodles, called soba. It is also used to make traditional steamed buns and bread," Agroexport said.
