Belarus pays coupons on 2026, 2031 Eurobonds in national currency

MINSK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Finance Ministry has paid interest in Belarus rubles on Eurobonds maturing in 2026 and 2031.

"An interest payment on Belarus-2026 and Belarus-2031 Eurobonds of the Republic of Belarus equivalent to $38.6 million took place on February 26, 2024," the ministry said in a statement, posted on its website.

The amount was credited to a separate bank account opened with the state-owned Belarusbank, as previously.

Belarus switched to Eurobond payments to investors from Russia via the NSD at the end of December 2023. Payments were made on Belarus-2023 Eurobonds. The Belarusian Finance Ministry redeemed this issue in February last year - principal debt was $800 million - but the Russian holders were unable to receive payments due to them, prompting numerous complaints.
