Authorities in Russia's Primorye invite China to create single e-queue system at border crossing

VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The Primorye Territory Development Corporation has proposed creating a single international electronic queue system at the Pogranichny-Suifenhe crossing on the Russian-Chinese border, the regional government's press service said.

Corporation representatives and Suifenhe Mayor Wang Lei discussed problems caused by the limited throughput capacity of this border crossing. The Russian delegation offered Chinese colleagues a single e-queue project, which would help synchronize this work and resolve the problem of lines on the border.

"Mutual trade between our countries has been growing year after year, leading to a significant workload increase at border crossings recently. We see a solution to the problem in synchronizing the operations of [relevant] agencies on both sides. With a common registration base, a single Russian-Chinese electronic queue system and a single applications processing website, we would be able to properly coordinate logistics flows," a corporation official was quoted by the press service as saying.

These measures will help streamline cargo and passenger traffic through the Pogranichny-Suifenhe border crossing and boost its capacity, he said. Such bilateral e-queue systems do not exist today and could serve as a pilot project in this field, he said.

According to data from the website of the Far East Customs Administration, there are currently no lines at the Pogranichny border crossing.
