Ukraine says working with U.S., European regulators on reopening its airspace

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine is conducting consultations with American and European security regulators regarding the possibility of reopening its airspace to commercial aircraft, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Restoration Minister Alexander Kubrakov said.

"We're conducting consultations with American and European security regulators on opening [Ukrainian] airspace. It's a complicated process, but Ukraine is making first formal steps already now. We're submitting official statements and risk assessments to the relevant regulators these weeks," Ukrainian media quoted Kubrakov as saying at the Ukraine. Year 2024 forum on Sunday.

While there are no specific timeframes, it is important for foreign regulators to confirm an algorithm of steps that need to be taken to safely open Ukrainian airspace, he said.

Ukraine has closed its airspace to commercial aircraft since the start of the crisis.
