State Duma speaker proposes signing inter-parliamentary agreement with Saudi Arabia

RIYADH. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has proposed that the Russian parliament's lower chamber and the Saudi Consultative Assembly sign an inter-parliamentary agreement at a meeting with Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia Speaker Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh.

"An agreement between the State Duma and the Consultative Assembly could be signed during your visit to Russia," Volodin said at a meeting with his Saudi colleague.

He also proposed boosting contacts between parliamentary committees.

While visiting Saudi Arabia, the State Duma delegation attended a meeting of the Consultative Assembly and was greeted by Saudi colleagues.

The State Duma delegation led by Volodin arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday. This is the first visit of the State Duma speaker to Saudi Arabia.
