Ukraine's Energoatom registers share issue worth over UAH 306 bln

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The Energoatom national nuclear power company received a registration certificate for the issue of shares totaling over UAH 306 billion on February 21, 2024.

"On February 21, 2024, the company passed another stage of corporatization successfully and in due time: it received a registration certificate for the issue of shares, which will be fully owned by the Ukrainian state," Ukrainian media quoted the company as saying on social media.

As the company said, this step is extremely important as it underlines the commitment to implement open corporate standards and transparency in the company's management.

"The registration certificate for the share issue gives an opportunity to attract new investment and increase capital investment in the energy sector," Energoatom said.

As reported, the government decided on December 29, 2023 to establish the Energoatom joint-stock company, which is fully state-owned.

In January 2024, the state registration of JSC Energoatom and the registration of the company's charter took place.

Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants, namely the Zaporozhye, Rovno, South Ukrainian and Khmelnitsky NPPs, which run 15 nuclear power units with a total capacity of 13.8 GW, covering around 55% of Ukraine's electricity needs.
