Polish farmers announce strike in Warsaw on Feb 27

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Polish farmers are planning to start a protest rally headlined "Start March on the Capital" in Warsaw on Tuesday, February 27, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the RMF24 radio station.

Farmers are planning to gather outside the Palace of Culture and Science and then march towards the Sejm and the office of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, an RMF24 correspondent reported.

Polish farmers demand that export of agricultural goods from Ukraine be restricted and that the Polish government withdraw from the European Union's Green Deal, the correspondent said.

Tusk, in turn, said at a press conference on February 22 that the government would seek a solution for farmers using internal measures and talks with Ukraine and European institutions.

"We must ensure that the negative consequences of liberalizing trade with Ukraine are less serious and compensate them as much as possible. And Polish farmers can count on me in this," the Polish premier said.
