MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine counts on approval of the agreement by the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), expects $5.4 billion in aid from the IMF, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"Ukraine and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement on the third review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement amounting to $15.6 billion. We expect this decision to be approved by the Executive Board of the Fund in the near future," Ukrainian media quoted him as saying on social media.

Shmygal thanked the IMF for consistent solidarity and support. "We expect the Fund's assistance totaling $5.4 billion in 2024," he said.

The total needs for external funding for this year amount to $37.3 billion, Shmygal said. He expects that the aid announced by other partners will be allocated and earmarked to Ukraine.

As reported, officials from the IMF and the Ukrainian authorities reached a staff-level agreement (SLA) on an updated set of economic and financial policies for the third review of the four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement, the IMF said.
