U.S. imposes sanctions on Rosatom subsidiary developing Northern Sea Route freight projects
MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The United States has imposed blocking sanctions on Rusatom Arctic, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said.
Rosatom previously told Interfax that it established Rusatom Arctic as a subsidiary in December 2023 to develop new business areas in the Arctic zone.
Since 2018, Rosatom has been an infrastructure operator of the Northern Sea Route in charge of organizing shipping, constructing infrastructure facilities, navigation and hydrographic support, and the navigation safety system in difficult Arctic conditions.
