Ukraine to get first 4.5 bln euros from macro-financial assistance package in March - European Commission president

BRUSSELS. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine will get the first tranche of 4.5 billion euros from the 50-billion-euro macro-financial assistance package in March, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said during a visit to Kiev on Saturday.

"Good meeting with [Ukrainian Prime Minister] Denis Shmygal. We discussed next steps on the 50-billion-euro Ukraine Facility. The first payment of 4.5 billion euros will come in March," von der Leyen said on X.

"We discussed how to deal with Ukrainian exports and tackle issues at the land border," she said.

Cooperation in the defense industry was also discussed, von der Leyen said.
