Zelensky calls on Polish PM Tusk for talks

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said he told his government to arrive at the border with Poland in the near future and called on Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to arrange negotiations there.

"I have instructed our government to come to the border between our countries by February 24 - the prime minister of Ukraine, our entire government, from logistics to the agricultural sector, and of course the defense minister of Ukraine [...]," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a statement during his video address on Wednesday evening.

"I urge you, Donald [Tusk], Mr. Prime Minister, to come to the border as well. And Andrzej [Duda], Mr. President, I urge you to support this dialogue. This is national security. We must not delay this. The next few days give us a chance to do it," he said.

Zelensky said he is "ready to be on the border with our government."

When addressing the European Commission, Zelensky said, "We must preserve unity in Europe. This is the EU's fundamental interest. That is why, Ukraine urges the European Commission to send its representative to this meeting."

"The cost of Ukrainian grain is special to us, just like that of any other product generated by our economy at this time," he said.

"I think everyone will understand that Ukraine cannot accept what is happening on the border between our countries," Zelensky said.

"There is still far more politics than economics in this situation," he said.

"And when our Ukrainian drivers are blocked on Polish roads, it means that politicians should intensify a real dialogue, at all levels," Zelensky said.
