Four other crossings on Ukraine's border placed under restoration agency's management

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Ukraine's State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development has been appointed to manage four more crossing points on the border with Slovakia and Hungary in the Zakarpattia region, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing information circulated by the agency on social media.

They are the Uzhgorod crossing on the border with Slovakia and the Chop (Tisa), Luzhanka and Vilok crossings on the border with Hungary, the agency said.

Thus, the number of border crossings currently under the agency's management has reached 27.

"Construction, repairs, reconstruction, modernization, maintenance and operation [of border crossings] fall within our remit. In the near future, we plan to conduct a technical inventory of facilities at the border crossings and will subsequently update their design and estimate documentation. After carrying out tender procedures, we will start repairs and an upgrade," it said.

Prefab buildings for offices of Ukraine's Customs Service and Border Service have been installed at the border crossings previously placed under the agency's management, it said. Repairs were also carried out to create comfortable conditions for passengers and drivers at the crossings, new signs were installed and lightning and the electrical grid were overhauled.

Cargo terminals are now being upgraded and roads leading to the border crossings are under repair.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian government decided in March 2023 to transfer the management of 29 border crossings to the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development.
