Number of Ukrainians who call Poland 'definitely friendly' down to 33% - poll

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Most Ukrainians, or 81%, say that the United States and the United Kingdom are friendly towards Ukraine, while the number of Ukrainians who call Poland definitely friendly is down from 79% to 33%.

The Rating sociological group conducted the poll on February 10-11, 2024, as part of the 26th round of the research of public sentiment dynamics in Ukraine, Ukrainian media said.

"On the whole, the majority believes that the United States and the United Kingdom (81% each), Germany (80%), Poland and Lithuania (79% each), Canada (78%), France (70%), and Japan (55%) are friendly towards Ukraine. Poland remains a friendly country in the eyes of most Ukrainians, while the share of positive assessments has decreased from 94% last year to 79% now. The share of those who call Poland definitely friendly is down from 79% to 33%," the Rating group said on its website.

Meanwhile, the number of Ukrainians who call the United States a definitely friendly country has dipped from 61% in June 2023 to 35%, as respondents tend to choose the "rather friendly" option.

Ukrainians define Israel as a neutral and friendly country: 44% say it is neutral, and 38% call it friendly. Most respondents, or 51%, describe Turkey as a neutral country, and the share of respondents who call Turkey a friendly country has decreased from 40% in June 2023 to 30% now.

The group polled 1,000 respondents older than 18 in all regions but territories uncontrolled by Kiev and territories that had no Ukrainian mobile service at the poll moment. The survey is representative by age, gender and type of settlement and held in the form of computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). The error of survey representativeness with a confidence level of 0.95 is no more than 3.1%.
