Russian Roskar planning to begin construction on new site in 2025 to produce 500 million eggs
MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The Roskar poultry farm (Leningrad Region) plans to start building a new production site in 2025, designed to produce 500 million eggs per year, General Director Roman Smirnov said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues on Wednesday.
"Our plans are clearly defined. Next year we will begin construction on the enterprise. The first commissioning will be in 2026. At the beginning of 2027, the site will reach capacity," he said.
The General Director positively assessed the Agriculture Ministry's decision to extend the term of preferential investment loans to 15 years. "The real new poultry farm that we plan to build, and its production capacity of 500 million eggs per year, requires investment; the site alone will cost almost 6 billion rubles," he said. "Accordingly, if we take the entire chain, the payback period will be over 10 years. This is not at today's selling prices, or the 8 months of last year. That is, with the profitability of our business being about 7% to 14%. In January, profitability reached 22% due to price adjustments," he added.
The project for new production was developed taking all the current challenges into consideration, "both veterinary, economic, and epizootic," he said.
Smirnov said that this year the production of eggs at Roskar would reach almost 1.4 billion pieces. "After completion of all projects, the capacity will be 2.050 billion eggs," he said.
As for the measures being taken to stabilize egg prices, he said that an agreement had been signed with all large poultry farms in the Leningrad region. "In 2024, prices were fixed at the level they reached, while some were reduced," he said.
"Roskar" is one of the largest Russian producers of eggs and processed products, as well as poultry meat and semi-finished products. The factory's product range of over 400 items is available on the markets of St. Petersburg, Moscow, the Northwestern region, as well as in the Central and Southern Federal Districts.
