Ukraine offering foreign traders capacity of 10 bcm in UGS facilities in 2024 - media

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Ukraine is again offering foreign traders up to 10 billion cubic meters of capacity in its underground gas storage (UGS) facilities in 2024, Ukrainian media reported, citing Naftogaz of Ukraine's post on social media.

"As last year, we are offering foreign clients up to 10 billion cubic meters of available volume in our UGS facilities. In fact, this is a third of the capacity in Ukraine's UGS facilities," Naftogaz said.

Naftogaz is aiming this year to double the volumes of gas that foreign traders store in Ukraine's UGS facilities.

The Gas Transmission System (GTS) Operator of Ukraine previously reported that it had transported 3.2 bcm of natural gas from the European Union and Moldova to Ukraine from April to October 2023. The bulk of the volume belonged to foreign companies and was sent for storage to Ukraine's UGS facilities.

Non-resident reserves in Ukraine's UGS facilities had decreased to 900 million cubic meters as of mid-February 2024.
