U.S. to announce new sanctions against Russia on Friday - White House

WASHINGTON. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Washington plans to publish a new package of measures against Russia in connection with the death of Alexei Navalny on Friday, U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on Tuesday.

"We will be announcing a major sanctions package on Friday of this week," the U.S. media quoted Kirby as saying.

The new package is a reaction to what happened to Navalny, he said.

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Monday that Washington was considering introducing additional sanctions over Navalny's death.
