Japan provides Ukraine with $100 mln grant aid under Program for Emergency Recovery

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Japan have signed an agreement on providing Kiev with grant aid equivalent to over $100 million for Phase 3 of the Program for Emergency Recovery, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Restoration Ministry's statement.

"The Program for Emergency Recovery (Phase 3) worth 15.8 billion Japanese yen, or over $100 million, will be focused on speedy recovery projects in the areas of energy support, transportation, and equipment for humanitarian mine clearance," it said.

With support from the Japanese government, Ukraine is successfully implementing Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Program for Emergency Recovery and the Project for Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction, it said.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Program for Emergency Recovery are focused on providing Ukraine with important machinery and equipment for the energy, transport, agrarian, medical, and education sectors, waste management, wastewater disposal, and water supply.
