Zelensky harshly criticizes Polish farmers for blocking Ukrainian border

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has described the blockade of the Ukrainian-Polish border by Polish farmers as politically motivated.

"What is happening on our Western border, the border with Poland, cannot be taken as something normal or routine. Only 5% of our agricultural exports go through the Polish border. Therefore, the situation is actually not about grain but about politics," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in an evening video address on Monday.

"The news from the border with Poland looks to be simply a mockery," he said.

"There's a need for simple and clear justice. There's a need for joint decisions, sensible decisions, to overcome this situation. Decisions between us and the Poles above all, as well as everyone in Europe," he said.

As reported, Polish farmers announced on February 20 that they were starting a full blockade of the border with Ukraine, including automobile crossings and routes leading to railways and seaports.
