Azerbaijan reduces gas supplies to Italy via TAP by 3.2% in 2023

BAKU. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Italy via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in 2023 totaled about 10 billion cubic meters, which was 3.2% less than in 2022, the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security reported.

Italy received 804 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan via TAP at an increase of 0.2% versus December 2022 in December 2023 according to the department.

The TAP pipeline is intended to transport gas to Europe from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea as part of "Stage-2" of its development.

The European Union (Eurostat) indicates that it previously reported that Italy has allocated around 5 billion euros for the purchase of gas from Azerbaijan according to the country's statistical office in 2023.
