Ukrainian, Chinese FMs meet in Munich

MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - China is hopeful that its relations will Ukraine will develop normally and will continue to benefit the two peoples, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said following a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Ukrainian media said on Sunday, citing the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website, that Wang emphasized China's principled position regarding the Ukrainian issue, adding that Beijing is committed to a peaceful solution in "hotspots".

"China will continue to play a constructive role in bringing an early end to the conflict and rebuilding peace [...] and will not give up as long as there is a glimmer of hope," Wang said in his statement.

Kuleba, in turn, was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying, with reference to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's website, that the parties "agreed that it is necessary to maintain Ukrainian-Chinese contacts at all levels and to continue their dialogue."
