KAZAN. Feb 16 (Interfax) - PJSC Kazanorgsintez (a division of SIBUR) and the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ) signed an agreement of intent on Friday to create the Northern Gate Industrial Park, the press service of the chemical plant said.

"On one site, a chain will be created ranging from scientific research on the creation of new polymers to their pilot testing and onward to mass production at the company's production facilities," the press release says.

The key project will be the creation of a center for scientific research and the scaling of SIBUR's new generation technologies for the development of new catalysts, technologies and materials in Kazan. The center will conduct full-cycle development work from laboratory research to the creation of industrial technologies and their commercialization.

The Northern Gate Industrial Park will feature promising production of new types of modern synthetic materials for key sectors of the economy, as well as investment projects from third parties for their further processing. In conjunction with the scientific and applied center, there is a plan to create the manufacture of catalysts capable of guaranteeing the production of domestic petrochemical products in volumes of over 10 million tonnes per year.
