NBU names most profitable banks in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The net profit of state-owned PrivatBank amounted to UAH 37.76 billion, or 43.6% of the entire net profit of the banking system in 2023, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement on the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) website.

According to its data, the top three are two more state-owned banks: Ukeximbank with a net profit of UAH 5.22 billion and Sense Bank with UAH 5.04 billion.

The five most profitable banks with foreign capital are Raiffeisen Bank with UAH 4.78 billion and state-owned Oschadbank with UAH 4.75 billion,

The second five included four banks with foreign capital and one with Ukrainian capital: Ukrsibbank with UAH 4.34 billion, FUIB with UAH 3.96 billion, OTP Bank with UAH 3.71 billion, Citibank with UAH 3.59 billion and Credit Agricole Bank with UAH 2.79 billion.

Seven out of 63 operating banks ended the last year with a loss, including the largest loss of UAH 92.9 million suffered by Pravex Bank owned by Intesa Sanpaolo. It is followed by Motor-Bank with UAH 47.4 million and closed by Industrialbank with UAH 40.4 million.

As for the ranking by total assets, in the fourth quarter Credit Agricole Bank (UAH 111.1 billion) entered the top ten, which swapped its 11th place with OTP Bank (UAH 111.0 billion). A year ago, OTP Bank with assets of UAH 100.4 billion was the eighth, while all other banks retained their places in terms of total assets.
