Ukrainian Energy Ministry: 378 communities have no electricity

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Engineers have restored power supply to over 29,000 customers in Ukraine, including in Lvov, over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian media have reported citing the Energy Ministry's social media post.

In particular, they returned electricity to 9,100 customers in 22 populated areas in the Dnepropetrovsk region.

However, 378 communities across the country had no power supply on Friday morning.

An overhead power transmission line has been damaged in the Kharkov region, cutting power supply to 1,558 households. Another 3,500 customers in Kherson and 932 customers in 16 communities in the Chernigov region have no electricity. Technical reasons have also caused outages in six communities in the Sumy region.

Ukrainian media also reported referring to the national power grid operator Ukrenergo's statement on its social account that power generation and the transmission capacity of bulk power systems were sufficient in general on Friday to cover demand.

At the same time, power consumption is gradually growing as outdoor temperature has somewhat dropped, it said.

Ukraine is to export 1,985 MW/h of electricity to Slovakia, Poland, Romania, and Moldova during night and daytime hours on Friday, which is 14% less than it did on Thursday.

It also plans to import 2,870 MW/h of electricity from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova during morning and evening hours, which is five times more than it did on Thursday.
