MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - South Korean company Hyundai E&C is ready to join in Ukrainian projects to expand the country's nuclear generating capacity, as well as implement joint innovation and research projects, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company as saying on social media.

Hyundai E&C Regional Director Hyung-Hwan Park announced his support for Ukraine and his willingness to enhance cooperation between the two companies at a meeting with Energoatom CEO Pyotr Kotin, at which they discussed priority areas for developing Ukraine's nuclear generating capacity.

In particular, the parties discussed the construction of new power units at the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant using Westinghouse's AP1000 technology, as well as the introduction of the small modular reactor (SMR) technology in Ukraine.

"To achieve our goals, we are interested in cooperation with new partners. Hyundai E&C could join in these projects," Kotin said.
