Electricity consumption growing, but grid capacity sufficient, over 350 Ukrainian communities cut off from electricity - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The electricity consumption is keeping at a rather low level for winter due to warmer weather throughout Ukraine, while the produced electricity resource is enough, and the total throughput capacity of high-voltage networks is sufficient to cover the demand, Ukrainian media reported, citing NEC Ukrenergo as saying.

It is noted that as of 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the level of electricity consumption is 0.4% higher than the corresponding figure on February 12 (on Monday it was 5% lower than the previous workday).

At the same time, the electricity import has doubled to 2,491 MWh and is being carried out in the morning and evening hours from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova.

Electricity is being exported on Tuesday during night and daytime hours to Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Moldova with a total volume of 2,314 MWh, which is 8% more than on Monday.

As for the situation in the Dnepropetrovsk region, Ukrenergo noted that despite the damage to the equipment at a thermal power plant, power supply to consumers was not interrupted, and no outage schedules are expected to be imposed.

At the same time, one main overhead line and one cable line of the NEC were unilaterally disconnected, but the total capacity of high-voltage networks is sufficient to cover the existing demand. However, the Dnepr city saw disruptions in the heat supply. As of this morning, 52 consumers in the Nikopol district were cut off from power supply.

Twenty-four consumers in the Transcarpathian region are cut off from electricity supply due to flooding. There are electricity outages in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev and Chernigov regions for technical reasons. In total, 354 communities remain without electricity for various reasons throughout Ukraine.
