Turkmen FM meets with top managers of UAE energy companies
ASHGABAT. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a series of meetings with top managers of United Arab Emirates (UAE) energy companies on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said on its website on Tuesday.
In particular, Meredov met with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Managing Director CEO Saeed Al Tayer to discuss cooperation in water management and the electricity sector. They listed the development of renewable energy sources among promising areas of bilateral interaction.
Steps to promote contacts to introduce cutting-edge UAE technologies in the oil sector and to implement the agreements reached by the leadership of the two states were on the agenda of Meredov's meeting with UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and head of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber. Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, also known as the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, also attended the meeting.
At a meeting with International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Director-General Gauri Singh, the parties exchanged views on the possibility of opening an IRENA office in Turkmenistan.
In his speech at the World Government Summit, Meredov unveiled a number of Turkmenistan's proposals, including the idea of creating a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity, a Global Energy Security and Sustainability Cooperation Alliance and the development of a Global Framework for the Transition to a Circular Economy based on the priorities of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Foreign Ministry said.
