Azerbaijan increases gas exports 4.5% in Jan to 2.3 bcm - Energy Ministry

BAKU. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan increased gas exports 4.5% in January 2024 versus January last year to 2.3 bcm, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said.

Azerbaijani gas exports to Europe in January 2024 totaled 1.1 bcm, about 48% of all gas exports from Azerbaijan, Shahbazov said on social media.

Gas shipments to Turkey reached 0.8 bcm (about 35%), and 0.4 bcm went to Georgia (over 17%). Meanwhile, 0.4 bcm of gas were transported through the Trans-Anatolian (TANAP) gas pipeline to Turkey during the reporting period.

As previously reported, Azerbaijan increased gas exports 5.3% in 2023 compared to 2022 to 23.8 bcm, while shipments to Europe increased 3.5% to 11.8 bcm.

The current buyers of Azerbaijani gas in Europe are Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Serbia. Other European countries have also expressed interest in purchasing Azerbaijani gas.
