Tajikistan sees GDP grow 8.3%, inflation rise 3.8% in 2023 - Economic Development Ministry

DUSHANBE. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Tajikistan saw the volume of GDP reach 130.8 billion somoni and GDP grow 8.3% in 2023, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry said in a statement.

GDP rose on the back of the actual volume of industrial output growing 12%, agriculture rising 9%, capital investment increasing 22.5%, trade turnover growing 13.4%, paid services rising 14.1%, and passenger transportation increasing 9.8%, the ministry said in a report.

Inflation decelerated to 3.8% in 2023 from 4.2% in 2022. Food products rose in price 3.4%, non-food products grew 6.6%, and services increased 1.2%.

Tajikistan ensured stable macroeconomic indicators overall despite the complicated geopolitical situation globally and the intensifying consequences of climate change, the ministry said.

The official exchange rate as on February 13, 2024, is 10.95 somoni/$1.
