Zelensky counts on U.S. Congress to make decision on aid for Kiev

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - The importance of the United States Congress deciding on an aid package for Ukraine is critical, the country's President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"We need the support of our allies, primarily from the U.S. I am convinced that Congress will definitely take a decision to allocate the necessary assistance to Ukraine. This will strengthen our economy and Armed Forces," Zelensky was quoted by the Ukrainian media as saying at last Friday's meeting with a bipartisan delegation from the House of Representatives, led by House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner, and Congressmen Jason Crow, James Hill, Zach Nunn and Abigail Spanberger.

Their visit was important, Zelensky said. "This visit is testament to the strong bicameral and bipartisan support for Ukraine, [and] proves that the United States is a strategic partner," Zelensky said.
