Kuwait opens up its market for fish, fish product exports from Ukraine

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Ukrainian entrepreneurs have received the opportunity to start exporting fish and fish products to Kuwait, Ukrainian media said, citing the press service for Ukraine's State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

"This is already the second foreign market that the Foreign Ministry and the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection has opened up for Ukrainian exporters this week. This first was the Chinese market for honey producers," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said.

"Negotiations with foreign partners on simplifying entry for Ukrainian goods into foreign markets are continuing. It is an important element of our work and of a broader strategy for creating new opportunities for Ukrainian businesses in the world," he said.

Efforts to enable Ukrainian goods to enter new markets are continuing, the service's director Sergei Tkachuk said, adding that the priority markets are countries of Asia and North America.

The service has advised producers of fish and fish products to study the requirements for importing these products to Kuwait.

The health certificate for marine and river aquatic animals, such as fish, shellfish, crustaceans and echinoderms, including those grown on farms, and their products exported from Ukraine to Kuwait is available for viewing on the service's website in the International Cooperation section, the Certificates on Exports from Ukraine subsection.

Ukraine has already agreed the forms of bilateral certificates for the export of fish and fish products to the EU, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, Israel, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Moldova, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, the service said.
