Combined heat and power generating plant's power unit with capacity of 250 MW connected to Ukraine's energy system after long repairs - energy ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - A power unit at a combined heat and power generating plant (CHP), which will add the capacity of 250 MW to Ukraine's energy system, has been connected to the power grid after lengthy repairs, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the Energy Ministry's social networks.

Three pieces of generating equipment have returned to operations after emergency repairs, and seven power units of thermal power plants are in reserve to be engaged if necessary, the ministry said.

At the same time, three units and a building of a thermal power plant are undergoing short-term repairs.

Import of electricity in the amount of 7,896 MW/h, which is 8.5% higher than yesterday, is forecast for the current day, as well as export of 1,318 MW/h to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Moldova, which is almost a third less than on Thursday.

"The situation is under control. The system is balanced. Schedules of shutdowns are not being used," the Energy Ministry said.
