BP plans to drill 12 production wells at ACG in 2024

BAKU. Feb 9 (Interfax) - BP-Azerbaijan plans to drill 12 production wells in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of fields in 2024, BP's Vice President for Wells in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Jim O'Leary said at the IADS Drilling Caspian conference in Baku on Friday.

O'Leary said that the company was planning to drill 18 wells on the ACG block in 2024, including 12 production wells, three water injection wells, two gas injection wells and one for the deep-gas project.

The company drilled 17 wells on the ACG block in 2023, including nine production wells, he said.

He said that drilling volume will grow every year, and that large-scale geological exploration work is currently underway on the block. He also said that the main issue was that the Azeri, Chirag and deep-water Gunashli fields were becoming obsolete, and that problematic wells need to be restored and new wells drilled.
