Minsk, Tashkent sign agreements worth $150 mln

MINSK. Feb 9 (Interfax) - The Belarusian delegation reached agreements worth $150 million with Uzbekistan during a visit to Tashkent, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik said.

"If we sum up the work done by our delegation over several days, we reached a package of bilateral documents (45 documents), which include interagency, interregional agreements, a whole number of contracts the total value of which is around $150 million," the Belarusian news agency BelTA quoted Aleinik as saying.

The results of the Belarusian delegation's visit to Tashkent made a serious contribution to bilateral relations, which began 30 years ago, he said.

"We have signed 70 documents over the entire history [of bilateral relations], and the volume of today's agreements confirms the strategic nature of relations and our commitment to moving forward," he said.

A forum of Belarusian and Uzbek regions took place in Tashkent earlier this week. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko then held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, after which a package of documents was signed, including a cooperation development roadmap for 2024-2025. It envisages export and investment projects worth $1 billion.
