Ukraine interested in exporting oil crop, sugar beet seeds to EU

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Ukraine is interested in exporting oil crop and sugar beet seeds to European Union countries, Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Nikolai Solsky said at an online meeting with Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development Norbert Lins.

"Solsky said at the meeting that Ukraine currently is not exporting oil crop, soybean and beetroot seeds to the EU, and forwarded a corresponding request to Norbert Lins, as the technical processing of this issue by the European Commission has already been completed, and the Council of the EU and the European Parliament will now have to adopt a decision. According to the minister, the export of the aforementioned seeds will contribute to the development of the agricultural sectors in Ukraine and the EU," Ukrainian media outlets quoted the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service as saying on social media.

Lins, in turn, reiterated support for Ukraine and promised to discuss these proposals with European Parliament representatives.

The parties also discussed plans to extend the suspension of duties and quotas on Ukrainian exports to the EU.
