Russian energy supplies to China at record high in 2023 - Kremlin aide

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Russian energy supplies to China reached all-time high in 2023, and the two countries will continue to develop joint projects in the energy sector despite Western sanctions, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said following a phone call between the Russian and Chinese leaders.

"In the conversation, the parties attached special significance to cooperation in the energy sector, which is in fact a locomotive of our practical interaction. Russian energy supplies to China reached all-time highs last year. They considerably topped figures of previous years on oil, coal, pipeline and liquefied natural gas," Ushakov told journalists on Thursday.

The two presidents also discussed the implementation of major Russian-Chinese joint energy projects, Ushakov said. "They reaffirmed the willingness to keep working to promote them, despite attempts by Western countries to put pressure through imposing unilateral illegitimate sanctions," he said.
