Ukraine's power system has no electricity shortage - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - As of Thursday morning, the electricity consumption throughout Ukraine is 6.5% higher than the relevant figure of Wednesday, February 7, but the shortage in the power system is not projected, Ukrainian media reported, citing NEC Ukrenergo as saying on social media.

It is noted that consumption amid the stability of temperature indicators is growing due to dense clouding, and rooftop solar farms do not produce electricity for households, which is compensated by an increase in consumption from the grid.

At the same time, electricity produced by power plants of all types is sufficient to provide power supply to all consumers.

The emergency repair period of one power unit at thermal power plants was extended during the day, while two more power units had their current repair period extended, the NEC said. The capacity of two power units at nuclear power plants has been lowered in order to carry out repairs.

A thermal power plant unit has been put into operation following the emergency repair, with seven thermal power plant units on standby, which will be used if required, the media reported, citing the Ukrainian Energy Ministry.

Electricity is being exported during night and daytime hours to Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Moldova with a total volume of 1,859 MWh on Thursday, which is 1.8 times more than on Wednesday, February 7, Ukrenergo said.

Electricity is being imported in the afternoon and evening hours from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova with a total volume of 7,274 MWh, which is almost twice as much as on Wednesday.
