Demand for imported second-hand vehicles spikes 45% in Ukraine in Jan - Ukravtoprom

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Almost 16,700 imported second-hand vehicles joined the Ukrainian motor fleet in January 2024, up 45% from the year before, Ukrainian media cited an Ukravtoprom statement on a social network.

Nearly 4,400 new vehicles were registered in January 2024, up 47% year-on-year, the association said.

Gasoline-fueled cars retained the biggest share among imported second-hand cars last month (46%), followed by diesel-fueled cars (29%), electric vehicles (16%), natural gas vehicles (5%), and hybrids (4%).

Volkswagen Golf continued to top the list of registered imported second-hand models (948 registrations).

The top 10 most popular models also included Renault Megane (759), Skoda Octavia (669), Volkswagen Passat (599), Volkswagen Tiguan (396), Nissan Leaf (355), Audi A4 (347), Audi Q5 (334), Nissan Rogue (330) and Tesla Model 3 (309).

An average age of used cars registered in Ukraine in January is nine years and eight months.

As reported, the demand for imported second-hand cars in Ukraine dropped 2.8 times to 11,500 vehicles in January 2023, compared to January 2022,, and Renault Megane topped the list with 926 vehicles.

The registration of such vehicles declined by 45% over the year to 214,400.
