Russia's aquaculture production rises 4.8% to 402,000 tonnes in 2023 - federal fisheries agency

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Russia's aquaculture production rose 4.8% year-on-year to 402,000 tonnes in 2023 from 383,500 tonnes in 2022, Federal Fisheries Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) head Ilya Shestakov said in congratulations sent to the industry's scientific organizations on Russian Science Day.

Shestakov also said that aquaculture production has doubled over the past 10 years.

Russia's main types of commercial fish are salmon, carp, valuable aquatic organisms such as oysters, mussels, scallops, other mollusks, and echinoderms, as well as sturgeon.
