Kazakhstan invites EAEU countries to implement joint projects to develop transit, transport infrastructure

ALMATY. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is inviting the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to implement joint projects for developing transit and transport infrastructure, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said.

"We believe it is important to continue increasing the capacity of international corridors, logistics terminals, and the crossing points of our countries. I invite all EAEU countries to implement joint projects to develop transit and transport infrastructure," Smailov said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty on Friday.

The EAEU is located at the crossroads of the East and West and the North and South, "which has always been a competitive advantage of our region," he said.

Kazakhstan attaches special importance to developing transit and transport infrastructure, he said. The country has provided more than $35 billion for these purposes over the past 15 years, he said.
