Uzbekistan to create int'l digital technology center

TASHKENT. Feb 2 (Interfax) - An international digital technology center will be established in Uzbekistan in accordance with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's decree.

"To agree to the proposal envisioning the creation of the International Digital Technology Center - Enterprise Uzbekistan on the territory of the IT Park," the decree, published on the website of the national legislation database on Friday, said.

Once the center is opened, a special legal regime will be introduced in its territory from June 1 and an individual regulatory sandbox will be created to develop and test IT innovations, services and corporate products, according to the document.

Mirziyoyev gave the agencies in charge of these issues until December 1 to submit a draft on the International Digital Technology Center to the government.

Uzbekistan's IT Park was created in one of Tashkent's central districts in July 2019. A total of 1,652 residents, including 426 with foreign capital, were registered in it as of late 2023.
