Ukrainian Railways transports record amount of 3.93 mln tonnes of grain in Jan 2024

MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Tentative figures suggest that JSC Ukrainian Railways transported 3.93 million tonnes of grain cargo in January 2024, the largest amount over the past two years, Ukrainian media cited deputy director of the company's commercial operations department Valery Tkachev as saying at a meeting with grain market participants on Thursday.

"We transported a record amount of 3.93 million tonnes of grain in January 2024. This is the best result over the past two years. We transported more only in November 2021 and January 2022," Tkachev said.

Exports accounted for 3.36 million tonnes, including 2.7 million tonnes (80%) transported to the seaports and 661,000 tonnes (20%) delivered to the land crossings on Ukraine's western border.

Ukrainian Railways also transported 146,300 tonnes of sunflower oil exports in January 2024, including 5,110 tonnes to the ports and 140,900 tonnes (95%) to the land crossings on Ukraine's western border.

The company transported 237,600 tonnes of oilseed residues and seed meal last month, among them 209,200 tonnes to the land crossings on Ukraine's western border and 28,400 tonnes to the ports.
