Prices for high grade food wheat in Ukraine still rising fast - analysts

MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Most Ukrainian flour millers are continuing to raise purchase prices for food wheat, the cost of which increased by UAH100-200/tonne CPT in the past week, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement from agriculture information and analytics agency APK-Inform.

"The supply of high quality grain remains insufficient and competition between processors and traders keeps growing, which continues to support prices," the agency said.

As of the beginning of this week, most processors are willing to pay UAH7,000-7,700/tonne CPT for Class 2 wheat, which is UAH100-200 more than a week earlier, the agency said. Some buyers are continuing to set prices at UAH6,600-6,800/tonne CPT, but it is difficult to get wheat at this price, APK-Inform added.

It was reported earlier that competition for high grade food wheat on Ukraine's domestic market intensified in January.
