Russia in touch with Turkey after Turkish banks stop servicing Russian clients - Peskov

MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - The Russian authorities are in touch with Turkish colleagues after Turkish banks stopped servicing Russian clients, and are looking for mutually acceptable solutions to this problem, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Yes, we know that, and we are holding an active dialogue with our Turkish partners and colleagues, we are discussing these problems," Peskov told journalists after being asked whether the Kremlin is aware of this situation.

The reasons behind these problems are clear, he said.

"They have been caused by the totally unprecedented, overt and aggressive pressure being exerted, above all, by U.S. representatives on Turkey and Turkish companies, including financial ones," Peskov said.

"There is understanding that such pressure should not stand in the way of the development of our cooperation, our bilateral relations, which meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries," he said.

"We are looking for mutually acceptable solutions," he said.
