Ukrhydroenergo preparing for spring flash floods

MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Ukrainian hydropower specialists have begun preparing a response to upcoming flash floods in spring.

"Hydropower plants of Ukrhydroenergo are operating as usual. Seventy-five hydroelectric generating sets are functioning," Ukrainian media quoted PJSC Ukrhydroenergo as saying in a statement.

Maintenance at Ukraine's hydropower plants (HPPs) and pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations is continuing according to schedule.

As reported, Ukrhydroenergo said on January 24, 2024, citing the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, that water levels continued to rise in the Upper Dnieper and the Desna in the Kiev and Chernigov regions, positively impacting the operations of the company's HPPs.

"Such a high inflow is not typical for winter. The situation was the same last year. However, it is positively influencing the operations of hydropower facilities," the company said.
