Russia's retail sales of beer and beer-based drinks increase 2.1% in 2023 - analysts

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Retail sales of beer and beer drinks in Russia increased 2.1% in 2023 to 769.6 million dal, the National Union for the Protection of Consumer Rights said.

In Q4 of last year, sales in annual terms increased 5.3% to 184.1 million dal.

This includes retail sales of beer drinks, which reached 89.5 million dal in 2023, an increase of 1.9%. Sales in Q4 were 21.4 million dal, an 8.7% increase.

In addition, 9.98 million dal of cider, perry and mead were sold in retail last year, which is 18.8% more than in 2022. In Q4, sales increased 21.8% to 2.5 million dal.

The Union also reported that production of beer and beer drinks in 2023 increased 1.3% to 812.8 million dal, while in Q4, they were up 11.6% to 187.2 million dal. This includes production of 97.3 million dal of beer-based drinks last year (a drop of 1.1%), including 27.4 million dal in Q4.

Production of cider, perry and mead was 10 million dal in 2023, which is 7.2% more than in 2022. Q4 production reached 2.3 million dal, an 8.7% increase.
