UZ Cargo Poland to offer freight transport services in Romania and Poland
MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - UZ Cargo Poland, JSC Ukrainian Railways' freight forwarder, will offer services related to the international transportation of goods in Romania and Poland, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing remarks by deputy director of the company's commercial operations department Valery Tkachev on social media.
"UZ Cargo Poland company will offer a set of international shipping services, which include paying the railway fare across the territory of Romania and Poland, forwarding goods in railcars outside of Ukraine (usage charge)," Tkachev said.
As reported, UZ Cargo Poland has already begun offering comprehensive cargo transport services abroad, including the payment of the transport fare and using Ukrainian Railways cars. At the same time, the company can offer railcars at a price below that valid for foreign carriers (under a separate contract).
UZ Cargo Poland has been set up to provide freight transport services and operate railcars outside Ukraine. The company's core functions include improving logistics, reducing the time and the cost of delivering cargo to the European Union by effectively using railcars and locomotives, as well as offering "single-window" services while transporting goods across EU states' territory and back.
UZ Cargo Poland transported 5,000 TEU equivalent shipping containers on the Poland-Ukraine-Poland route in 2023.
