Volume of chicken meat allowed into Russia under duty-free import quota increases to almost 4,600 tonnes - Agriculture Ministry

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Russia's Ministry of Agriculture approved the import of 4,562.6 tonnes of chicken meat into Russia as part of its duty-free quota (codes 0207 14 100 9 and 0207 14 500 9 CN FEA of the EAEU), ministry data show.

The balance of the tariff benefit reached 135,437.4 tonnes as of January 30, the ministry said, and 4,562.6 tonnes were approved for delivery, 106 tonnes more than the previous week.

As reported, Russia's duty-free import quota for chicken meat in 2024 is 140,000 tonnes. The goal of the quota is to increase the amount of chicken meat on the Russian market and stabilize pricing. The imported meat is intended for processing.

The Agriculture Ministry reports that to date, applications have been submitted to import 405 additional tonnes of duty-free chicken.
