Ukrainian Railways to resume auctions for railcars transporting grain on export routes

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - JSC Ukrainian Railways is due to resume auctions from February 1 to distribute dual-gauge railcars for transporting grain to land border crossings, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing remarks made by deputy director of the company's commercial operations department Valery Tkachev on social media.

"JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is announcing additional auctions for the use of dual-gauge grain railcars. The date of the first auctions is February 1, 2024," Tkachev said. They will be held as an English auction, or an ascending price auction.

Freight forwarders will be offered ten lots, each consisting of 28 railcars, to be used on an export route to Romania via the land border crossings of Vadul-Siret and Dyakovo, including the railcars' transfer to the 1,435 mm track.

The deadline for providing the grain railcars for loading is February 29, 2024.

The starting price at the auctions is 1,350 hryvni per day. The auction winner will be additionally required to submit an electronic application as part of a routine procedure before February 26, 2024.

The auction winner should also have a forwarding services contract with UZ Cargo Poland in accordance with which all international shipping services will be provided, the company said.
